Parking privileges are one of those perks that are not easily forgotten. Over our holidays we used the power of my pregnant wife for good use and scored a “expectant mothers” parking spot at the mall. It was a glorious feeling not driving around the parking lot for ten minutes while my wife randomly blurts out open spaces like she is playing bingo. See, this may not seem very monumental for most, but finding a parking spot with my wife before she was pregnant was acquired skill set, that I was apparently lacking. Here was the rational that my wife gave me; “park as close as you can no matter the cost.”

I learnt quickly into my marriage that my wife did not enjoy walking in a parking lot as much as she did in the park. Okay check. After I mastered the skill of finding the closest parking stall to the nearest entrance, I realized that there was a time limit to this method and after a few minutes of searching for a spot, I would then have to avert to plan “b” and drop her off at the door and continue my parking spot extravaganza. I have to admit, we have this down to a science now when going to the mall, grocery store, etc. But, when she became pregnant I immediately wanted to use the benefit of the “expectant mother” stalls. She informed me during her first trimester that she doesn’t want to park in them because she doesn’t look pregnant enough yet. What would people think if I stepped out of the car and wasn’t showing. Ah, okay check. As she entered her second trimester I was certain that this was optimal for cashing in on the expectant mother parking spots, but as the DaddyNoob I am, this trimester is the time of pregnancy where most women have their energy back. My wife had all kinds of energy and selflessly wanted to leave those spots for the “less” energetic pregnant women. Now, that my wife is in her last trimester and is as anxious as ever, when we eyed the “expectant mothers” spot, she jumped all over that idea. If there was an “expectant mothers” wheelchair at the mall, I think she would be fine with me pushing her through Winners. Ha.

All I know, is that this parking spot has been a long time coming for me. I almost want to go back to the mall just to park in this epic stall.

Oh the lazy DaddyNoob I am…
